  • $25 underwrites one classroom’s “Educational Toys for Autism” holiday wish list

  • $50 underwrites one child’s summer swimming camp

  • $300 underwrites a one month rent stipend to support Consortium recruitment of qualified specialists

  • $400 underwrites one child’s week at adaptive bike camp

  • $900 underwrites one child’s week at day camp at the Children’s Beach House

Bring your old sneakers to donate to Perpetual Prosperity Pumps Foundation and help bring technology and training to the poorest farmers and villages in Ghana West Africa. Why we need your support….A history lesson in Autism….

1943

Leo Kanner publishes first paper identifying autism in children; he is the first to use the word autism in its modern sense when he introduces the label early infantile autism.

1944

Hans Asperger describes an autism disorder in children that is later known as Asperger’s Syndrome.

1965 The Autism Society of America is founded.
1970s Evidence of a genetic role is debated.
1990s More research is done and shows a possible genetic link to autism.
1995 Since 1977 the number of students enrolled in federal programs for children with disabilities increases by 47%.
2001 The Lower Delaware Autism Foundation is incorporated in the state of Delaware.
2005

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 1 in 166 children are affected by autism.

2005 The Lower Delaware Autism Foundation opens the doors to its first office in Lewes, Delaware.
2007 The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 1 in 150 children are affected by autism.
2007 Autism receives as little as 5% of the research funds of less common diseases such as juvenile diabetes.
2007 More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes and cancer combined.
2007 There is still no medical test to detect autism and NO CURE……..
